Pricing

At Cofactor we would like to remove the anxiety and other unfair practices associated with asking for a quote so we have no fake “list” prices nor “standard discounts.” The website prices are the actual current prices.

If we are offering any promotions, they will be listed on the front-page of our site for everyone to see and access in a fair and open way.

If you are planning a large future project, you are welcome to purchase preliminary data at the standard rate. We cannot offer discounts in anticipation of future large projects. The only non-public discounts that are available are volume discounts for projects > $50,000.

Per-Sample Solution Prices

Our lane, library, and platform based prices have given way to more fair prices in Cofactor optimized configurations. All de novo sequencing will be Illumina paired-end or mate-pair. All re-sequencing will be offered on the SOLiD. Instead of one price for DNA and RNA, you will now pay less for simpler DNA projects.

You will have the option of paying much less - our super saver price - if you are willing to wait and need no analysis. You will also be able to fast-track your entire project to meet a grant deadline by upgrading to priority service. A new level of purely automated analysis will enable us to lower those prices and spend more time on even more complex “Full Service” analysis.

Included Libraries & Sequencing

Just send us your genomic DNA or total RNA and we will handle the rest. All de novo projects are paired-end or mate-paired Illumina reads of at least 60 base-pairs per end. All resequencing projects are 50 base-pair single-end reads from the Applied Biosystems SOLiD sequencer. Bacterial/Yeast genomes are assumed to be 5 mega-bases, Model Organism genomes are assumed to be 100 mega-bases, and Mammalian/Crop genomes are assumed to be 3 giga-bases. RNA projects yield our recommended RNA-seq depths: 25 million reads for bacteria, 50 million reads for model organisms, and 75 million reads for mammals and crops. De novo DNA projects provide 60X coverage - the minimum necessary for an assembly. Resequencing DNA projects provide 15X coverage - the best cost/benefit balanced depth for SNP calling across even large diploid genomes.

Included Bioinformatics & Analysis

Automated analysis includes 3 bioinformatics tokens. Full Service analysis includes 6 bioinformatics tokens. Super Saver prices are discounted to reflect no analysis. Custom analyses not listed below are available upon request. You may spend your tokens on any analyses you wish:

1 Token 2 Tokens 3 Tokens 4 Tokens
SNP calling Expression Analysis miRNA Analysis w/de novo Grand Assembly
Alignments to Reference Non-Mapping Reads Assembly Alternative Splicing
BLASTX Gene Annotation Assembly of up to 2 PE lanes Gene Fusion Analysis
Allele Specific Expression
Bisulfite Analysis

Lead Time

Just as Federal ExpressTM has Ground, Two-Day, and Overnight service, Cofactor can provide your sequencing and analysis with 3 different lead times. If you need the best price and are not on a deadline, the Super Saver price ensures your sample will be run and analyzed in a maximum of 16 weeks. Of course we don’t wait until then - we run your sample when we have empty lanes. Our standard option places you next in the queue with an average (but not guaranteed) lead time of ~10 weeks. Priority service places you on the next run no matter what, with cut-in-line analysis and a short guaranteed turnaround time of as little as 6 weeks (depending on the exact scale of your project and instrument cycles).

Regardless of which lead time you pick, automated emails will keep  you updated on the status of your sample the second it moves to the next step.

Payments

To keep prices and working capital requirements low, and to keep schedules accurate and fair, Cofactor requires all customers to pay 50% of their total project up-front. However, we encourage you to submit your samples right away, without regard for the purchasing process, in order to avoid unnecessary delays. Some small projects may need to be paid in full before services begin. We will email you a summary of your final analysis when it is complete, but we require payment in full before we ship your data and analysis.

To keep the queue fair and prices low, understand that Cofactor is not obligated to begin your libraries, sequencing, or analysis until your up-front payment is made. These delays are not factored into any expected wait time you are quoted. Delays at this stage will not result in a linear increase in wait time — rather they often push projects over critical points that result in discontinuous, cascading, non-linear increases in wait time.

When you receive a quote, you will also receive a matching invoice for 50% of the total. This invoice can be passed onto your purchasing department who may contact us to setup Cofactor as a new vendor with your Institution. You may contact Mary Hill at 314.436.9120 or by email at mary_hill@cofactorgenomics.com. While you are welcome to submit a PO for your order, and we will gladly include the PO number on your invoices, it will not be accepted as a form of up-front payment.

For your convenience, we accept payments by check, credit card, or wire transfer. International payments are accepted by wire-transfer only.
